Pet owners are very meticulous about their pets. Home cats, dogs and sometimes other birds of animals are an important part of the owners’ life and family members. And they will never be left behind, that’s absolutely out of the question! Fortunately, Arcadia Run is always open for its visitors and will do its best to make them feel like at home. For example, if you move to another flat with a dog, or just want to buy or adopt a dog, there are some steps for you to make to be sure that your apartment is friendly to your pet. Nota bene! There is some breed restriction information, you can call to our leasing consultant and find out all the matters. The following tips will help you make your apartment comfortable and safe for your pets: 1. Household stuff, especially that poisonous one, should be properly stored far from pets, in the place where they cannot reach it. Sometimes even houseplants can be poisonous. Thus, if you are not quite sure what can do harm to your pet, check the list of pet toxins ASPCA. One of the most attractive smell and taste for your pet is antifreeze. But this taste and smell may become fatal for an animal; that is why it is vital to be sure that all potentially hazardous materials are hidden on the top of a high shelf or in a latched cabinet. 2. Suffocation hazard. As an example, let’s exemplify it in chords for curtains or blinds. They should be kept clipped up or short and not available for choking or chewing them by pet-animals. Also, if you don’t use electrical cords, don’t forget to unplug them. And for your pet not to be tangled into loops, make sure that there are no cords. Every time when cleaning your apartment, make regular check of spaces which are difficult to reach with vacuum cleaner. For example, under sofa there should not be anything that you cats and dogs could find and eat. 3. Countertops are often favorite place for cat to relax on. Especially quality cement countertops are those of Concrete Counter Top. Our advice is not to leave food on countertops. Make it impossible for your pets to reach food somewhere high – no ladders, no stools, just make it beyond reach. Put the rubbish out daily. Use a trash can with a lid that closes the can tightly – this will prevent animals from scavenging. If a pet gets into a trash bin, just imagine what mess they can make in your apartment. Not to mention that results of this mess can be very serious to the health of your pet. Sugar-free food, coffee grinds, chocolate and raisins are of very danger for the dogs. 4. House plants beautify your apartment and make it cozy. That create atmosphere of calmness and relax. But before buying them and bringing home make sure that they are safe for your pet and not poisonous. Just for instance, Poinsettia pulcherrima (Christmas Star) is very beautiful plant, but at the same time very poisonous. Lilies will be out of place in your flat if you have a cat. “Neighborhood” of cat and lily may result in felines’ kidney failure. Before buying any plant, look through ASPCA list to see if there is a plant that you want to bring to your house. 5. If you have a patio or balcony, don’t leave the door open. For unwatched cats and dogs it is a great possibility to run away through railings. 6. Separate place. This will make them feel safe, especially if you apartment if new for them and they need to get used to it. If your pet is a dog, find a dog-corner for him in your apartment. Let all his toys, bed and water source be placed there. If you are going to be absent for a whole day, be sure that your pet is provided with fresh water in pet fountain. 7. Floor and carpet cleaners are mandatory to be there in your apartment. If your house is pet-friendly, it means that they can use a living space to its fullest extent. And you may stay calm when at work knowing that everything possible was done and your pets are safe and sound.
